Itinerary – 6 Nights 7 Days

Day 1 — Okhrey

Pick up from NJP Railway Station/Bagdogra Airport and transfer to Okhrey, West Sikkim (4.5­5 hours 135 km) en route Melli, Jorethang, Soreng, Daramdin. You can stop by for some time there depending on your arrival time. Reach Okhrey Homestay and have lunch. Post lunch engage yourself in some village activity which would be guided by your assigned homestay operator.

Day 2 — Trek to Barsey and Stay at Hilley

After having breakfast start your journey for Hilley which is 12 Km away from Okhrey (9000 ft). Quickly register the group in the office and start the trek. Now as you enter the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary. The whole trek will be through this sanctuary. After 2­3 hours walk, you will reach Barsey situated at the top of the sanctuary and having an altitude of 10000 ft. It is a 5 Km trek. Return back from the Barsey Rhododendron trek to Hilley where you will be served with hot and sumptuous breakfast. Post breakfast you will be taken for other activities and village local sightseeing. Halt at the homestay in Hilley.

Day 3 — Transfer to Daragaon via Okhrey and Kaluk

Post breakfast drive down the 12 kilometres stretch crossing the beautiful and serene wildlife sanctuary, through those forests where rhododendron have blossomed all over the place, a small lake which will rejuvenate your senses located amidst the jungle and finally to reach Okhrey from where you will further drive down towards Kaluk which will be reached in another 3 hours or so. Reach Kaluk by lunch time. Post lunch would be village walk and local activities in and around the village. The evening is completely at your leisure. Halt at Daragaon village near Kaluk.

Day 4 — Explore Bermiok and Hee, Back to Daragaon

Day 4: Wake up early morning to see the Mighty Mt Khangchendzonga and its ranges from your own homestay. Then, visit the Sirijunga Falls or Sirijunga Vadhan located about an hour’s walk downward from Bermiok Bazaar. Holy box and the Sirijunga Cave or Sirijunga Phuku. All these are located at the point of meeting of Reshi Khola and Kalej. Other places worth a visit include Yuma Samyo Mangheem and the beautiful lake of Chaaya Taal located at Hee. ­Kyangbari where tourists can enjoy facilities for boating. Tourists can also witness the world’s largest prayer wheel and a water park in nearby Hee Gaon with swimming pools and gazebos. Return to your homestay for the day layover. The evening is completely at your own disposal.

Day 5 — Cross Martam, Tadong, Dentam, Pelling, Legship, Ravangla to reach Borong

After breakfast drive towards Borong, South Sikkim. Crossing the lush green forests and verdant valleys of Martam, Tadong, Hee Gaon, Dentam Valley (to see the famous Alpine Cheese Factory), Singshore bridge. Stop over at Pelling for visiting Pemayangtse Monastery and Rabdentse Ruins. If you are stopping over at Pelling for sightseeing we suggest you to take lunch in Pelling before proceeding ahead as we are sure many spots shouldn’t be missed along the route. Reach Legship (often called the Gateway to Sikkim) On the left banks of the river Rangit is a Shiva temple known as the Kirateshwar Mahadev Mandir, which has many mythological episodes of the Mahabharata attached to it. Only 4 km from here, Phur Cha­chu hot water spring is well known for its medicinal properties. Then, Kah­do Sang phu or ‘the cave of the occult fairies’ considered sacred by the people. Rangit Water World, a lake formed by the Rangit dam offers swimming, angling and river rafting facilities. Further, drive ahead reach Kewzing, a place where you get to see some of Sikkim’s most traditional houses. Proceed ahead towards Ravangla. Alongside stop by to see Buddha Park (Tathagata Tsal) and reach Borong in another 17 kilometres drive down from Ravangla. The rest of the evening is completely at your leisure in and around the village. We are confident that Village Borong so much more to offer which won’t even complete in a week time.

Day 6 — Visit Ralong, come back to Borong

After breakfast, some 5 km away is the Ralong Monastery. Evening is at your complete leisure and village activities which will be definitely guided by your homestay operator……. this place is exceptionally beautiful if you are looking for a solitary peace, recluse, nature, hospitality and everything that is blended together like a ‘perfect mixture’.. ..

Day 7 — Tour ends

Transfer from Borong to NJP/IXB/Siliguri drop.
